The RT Level II Technician will be responsible for conducting radiographic tests, interpreting results, and ensuring all processes meet the required quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Radiographic Testing (RT): Conduct radiographic inspections on a wide range of materials, including metals, composites, castings, and welds, to detect internal discontinuities according to AWS, ASME, API, MIL Standard, and client specifications.
- Equipment Setup and Calibration: Set up, calibrate, and operate radiographic testing equipment (e.g., X-ray and gamma-ray sources, film, and digital imaging systems). Ensure all equipment is functioning within the required parameters, in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Interpretation of Radiographs: Analyze radiographic films and digital images to interpret and evaluate the presence, size, and nature of defects or discontinuities. Ensure that findings comply with applicable codes, standards, and specifications such as AWS D1.1, ASME Section V, and other relevant standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed radiographic reports, including findings, defect identification, and relevant measurements. Ensure accurate documentation of test parameters, results, and compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols during all radiographic testing procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), radiation shielding, and safe handling of radioactive materials or X-ray equipment. Ensure compliance with State DEP/NRC and OSHA standards, as well as industry safety guidelines.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure all testing and documentation procedures comply with AWS, ASME, and all relevant quality assurance standards. Conduct self-checks to verify that testing is performed accurately and in line with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other NDT personnel to review test results, discuss defects, and provide recommendations for corrective actions or further inspections.
- Maintain NDT Equipment: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of radiographic testing equipment and ensure all tools and materials are kept in good working condition. Report any malfunctions or required repairs to management.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or trainees, ensuring they meet SNT-TC-1A and/orNAS410 certification requirements and safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest industry advancements, codes, and standards related to radiographic testing. Participate in ongoing professional development and ensure personal certifications are maintained.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification:
- Level II Radiographic Testing certification in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and applicable industry standards.
- Additional certification such as IRRSP or equivalent radiation safety credentials are required.
- Certification should be current and in good standing.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in radiographic testing, including hands-on experience with both film-based and digital radiography systems, in compliance with AWS, API, and ASME codes.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in the set-up and operation of radiographic testing equipment (e.g., X-ray and gamma-ray), film processing, and digital radiography systems. Knowledge of all relevant codes and standards. Strong understanding of the principles of radiation physics and defect identification.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to interpret radiographs with precision and identify potential flaws accurately. Strong analytical skills to ensure proper evaluation of test results.
- Safety Consciousness: Comprehensive understanding of radiation safety protocols and procedures. Ability to handle hazardous materials and radiation sources with the highest regard for safety.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in potentially hazardous environments and handle equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Ability to lift and maneuver equipment as necessary and work in confined spaces or at heights when required.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to generate clear, detailed reports and communicate effectively with team members, management, and clients.
Additional Desired Skills:
- Cross-Disciplinary NDT Experience: Experience in other NDT methods (e.g., Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing) is a plus.
- Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Strong ability to troubleshoot radiographic equipment and interpret challenging test results.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Ability to lead by example and mentor junior technicians, ensuring high levels of competency and safety.
